For the last year, I’ve been explaining what our upcoming web series The North Pole is about with one line: “Well, it’s a political comedy about the biggest social issues of our time: Gentrification. Global warming. And gluten-free donuts.”
And while that answer usually got the requisite chuckle I was looking for, it could never fully capture what the show was about. In film as much as anything else, seeing is believing.
So if you haven’t seen it already, enjoy the official trailer for The North Pole…
If you’re in the Bay Area, join the party on Thursday, September 7 at the World Premiere at Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theater. The 7:00 screening sold out in less than a day, but there’s still a few tickets left for the 9:30 show.
And no matter where you are, get ready for the national online launch on Tuesday, September 12 Â on our website, TheNorthPoleShow.com.
This project is a collective labor of love. So I gotta give a shout-out to my folks! Yeah, I’m talking about you, Yvan Iturriaga (director), and you, Darren Colston (co-producer), and you, Movement Generation (executive producer)…and the whole ridiculously brilliant cast, crew, Kickstarter backers, and everyone else who made this happen.
Extra thanks to my great-aunt Joyce Gartzman in Skokie who donated $20 with the note: “Joshie, go make something that makes me proud. Or well, at least just go make something.”
We made something, Aunt Joyce!
As for that other part, we’ll just have to see.
